You can see in this photo just how perfectly Grace Kelly embodied her own name. She was the star in all the best Hitchcock dramas in the 1950’s, but when Grace met the prince of Monaco, her acting career was all but history, due to the prince’s demand that after becoming his wife, Grace would focus solely on being a princess. This shot was one of Grace’s last as an actress.

No one could know at the time that James Bond would become the franchised zeitgeist it is today, which is why this photo is so iconic and special. Filming the first movie, the star and original James Bond, Sean Connery, stands at the shoreline, while the first ever bond girl, 60’s sex symbol, Ursula Andress, digs her toes into the sand. Arguably, Bond probably never would’ve taken off like it did if anyone else had been chosen to play the series’ original Bond babe.
