Habits Linked to a Long Life

Habits Linked to a Long Life

Life is short, no matter how you look at it, but there are things we can do that can drastically shorten it even more. From bad habits like smoking or overindulging in any vice, to not moving around enough or overextending yourself, there are tons of things we do in our everyday lives that can add up quickly to take away from our age bank.

Good News—It’s Not Too Late!

That’s right! It’s never too late to change your life and add all that time you might have lost through less than healthy living. It starts with moderation and movement. If you enjoy sweets or alcohol or smoking, make a plan to take in less of these (and maybe enact a way to quit smoking all together). Can’t find the time for movement in the way of a gym or a workout program? That’s okay! Taking a brisk walk at lunch or something as simple as taking the stairs instead of the elevator can add up quickly for health benefits.

Specific Foods Are Gold

It sort of rings partly true that you are what you eat. You don’t have to totally give up what you love to eat in order to make habits for a long life—just add in bites the good stuff here and there! Not a fan of how a superfood like wheatgrass or heart healthy nuts taste? Great news here, too. You can buy just about any nutrient food and spices can provide in a supplement, or even gummy, form. The ease of incorporating hearty food into your diet is easy.

Don’t Forget What’s Inside

Health starts from the inside of us, too, and if you want to prolong your life, you have to put your brain first. Get enough rest, both during sleep and with things like yoga or meditation. Carve out time to do things you love, like hobbies or socializing or things that spark your mind. A long life is a happy one and that starts with yourself.
